Don't like climate change? Take away funding from climate research!  Don't like poor people?  Make it harder for them to get government aid!  Don't like another country's ideology?  Start a war with it!  Don't like people asking uncomfortable questions?  Feed them propaganda, sabotage public education, and restrict their ability to protest!

Safety vs. Risk

In our culture, "playing it safe" is bad, and taking risks is good. If survival is valued as "good" and death is "bad," then it is bad if everyone either plays it safe or takes risks. On the other hand, most people playing it safe, and a few people taking risks, is good.
